Thanks, Simon, for a great search engine.
There are about a half dozen threads on JENGA, a name I couldn't recall at first.
Best to you and Angharad!
jenga is a simple game in which wooden blocks are neatly piled up - and then removed, one by one, until one person ( the person who loses.
the game) makes the pile collapse.. it is tempting to see the organization in the same way - making small but significant "removals" over time.
they pull out food service.

an old jw friend of my wife stopped by here in fla. i knew there would be some subliminal bs.
i had to keep quiet through all the this old system can not go on much longer and are you going to the memorial?
gag.
During one of the last meetings I attended, "Andre" was mentioned in the talk. Afterwards, a brother and I talked, and he referred to the time being so short. No connection, I guess, but a weird juxtaposition.
Andre, and his brother Andre, and his Uncle Andre, and . . . That name must have a very special spiritual significance.
i left school at 16, because i was studying and getting the best " university education" in the world.
.
how did the theocratic ministry school benefit you?.
The Rebel:
Good to see you again!
I enjoyed giving talks, in the era when we had more "freedom of speech," as well as access to research materials now disallowed. Although published somewhat before my entry into Watchtower World, I did enjoy the "scholarly" layout of Equipped for Every Good Work.
The older publications had a level of gravitas that has gone missing, incrementally, from later WT works.
THANKS!
jws re-name things so they seem like they are different than other religions.
(of course we know they are different but that's another story).
i was just thinking about those things where they are like most everyone else in christendom but the re-name it to seem different.. for example god forbid they have a church, it's a "kingdom hall".. they don't have pastors and deacons they have "elders" and "ministerial servants".. they don't have tithing but they will have family heads fill out a paper saying how much they can contribute on a monthly basis (not sure if there is a name for that...unless it's tithing.

Pot Luck (casual buffet dinner): Pot Blessing
I have to say that I'm grateful JWs don't say "Bless you" when someone sneezes. I sneeze a lot, and some nonJW friends say "Bless you" after my every sneeze. Maybe that does matter since my sneezes bring down the rafters.
Hey, again, Syl!
My tablet is paper, stylus a pencil.
Good luck mastering it.
it is a bad time to be awake;.
i see things i do not wish to see.. i have feelings i do not wish to feel.. if i could return to sleep, the deception.
of sweet slumber would assure that even a. nightmare might offer an escape, escape from.
Thank you, dear Syl, for sharing the above.
Part of why I stick around is because I know you are always here!
Love and blessings.

Dear Nancy Drew:
It is SO good to see you back and writing again!
Love to you and yours.
i'm feeling very angry tonight as i watched my mother in law end her relationship with my husband, her son, tonight.
we were happily inactive, enjoying a distant but decent relationship with my in laws until they saw some christmas decorations and everything changed.
i spent two hours getting drilled on whether my husband and i celebrate holidays, to be told that my laws won't socialize with us anymore.
That's OK, Visitor!
An accidental three likes is a nice mistake!

I'm sorry, Visitor1984, for this unfortunate turn of events.
Many of us have already dealt with similar years ago, yet it still hurts. Somehow, though, we have moved on through the pain, realizing that we, too, once behaved in the same manner. I miss my family and friends.
May you find peace.

MissFit:
Oh, yes! A dream within a dream! So real, I believe that I'm "there"! Although in exaggerated surroundings, my recurring dreams center around my time pioneering in the Midwest (USA) and that attending conventions. Frequently, I am lost in a parking lot, on a street. The settings are surreal (as mentioned, "exaggerated") and waking up from the dream -- whether or not within another dream -- is often a letdown, while I adjust uneasily to the unpredictability of another day.
Not much control over our dreams, right?
I appreciate your comments on my writing!
